The development team at EA Sports working on FIFA 14 announces that the Ultimate Team mode for the football sim is at the moment down for an extended 5-hour maintenance period that is set to end at 2 PM Greenwich Mean Time, which is 6 AM Pacific Time.

All other game modes are unaffected and players should not experience any sort of issues if they are trying to get into a local league or play with other gamers over the Internet.

The announcement was made via the official Twitter feed of the company.

EA Sports is not saying exactly what the maintenance period for Ultimate Team is needed for, but the community is hoping that the company will eliminate some of the issues that are still affecting the mode, including those linked to player transfers.

The studio says that it will offer more details if the maintenance period needs more time to be completed.

The Ultimate Team mode for FIFA 14 is very popular with gamers and has also developed into a solid revenue stream for EA Sports, which is delivering new packs, including the much-awaited Team of the Week.

The company is already working on a new installment in the football series, which will probably be revealed in May and will be launched at some point in September.
