The development team at EA Sports announces that it is at the moment aiming to launch a maintenance period for the Ultimate Team mode in FIFA 14 starting at 8 AM Greenwich Mean Time and 12 AM Pacific Daylight Time.
The official Twitter channel of the series says that the service will be down for 8 full hours and apologizes for any inconvenience caused to gamers who were looking to challenge friends or rivals during this period.
The Electronic Arts Football Club, which is less popular, will also be affected, and gamers should take a look at the official social media presence of EA Sports in order to get updates on the process.
The studio is not saying what it plans to do during the eight-hour long maintenance period for FIFA 14 Ultimate Team, but they are probably upgrading the infrastructure in order to deal with the coming launch of the next title in the long-running franchise.
FIFA 15 will be out before the end of September on the PC, the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and last-gen consoles, and the Ultimate Team mode will include new features like Concepts Squads and loans for superstar players.
The overall game engine has also been improved, with smarter teammates and better realism for both offense and defense.
UPDATE: EA Sports is extending the maintenance for three hours and is not offering reasons for the move.
