FIFA 14, the sports simulation title from EA Sports, remains at the top of the United Kingdom chart for the first full week of 2014, which ended on January 11, showing that the title has long term potential to dominate the rankings until March.

The game continues to be attractive to fans because of the excitement that the Premier League delivers and because the studio continues to support it in the long term, specifically with more content for the very popular Ultimate Team mode.

FIFA 14 has seen a decrease in its overall sales of about one third but other titles included in the United Kingdom top ten have seen bigger falls, says UKIE.

Call of Duty: Ghosts, the first-person shooter from developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision, is in second place once more, but the release has not managed to match the performance posted by its predecessor, Black Ops 2.

The last place on the podium is occupied by Battlefield 4, the rival franchise from DICE and Electronic Arts, which has managed to gain one position despite the fact that not all the bugs that the community has reported have been solved by the studio.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, the piracy-themed open action title from Ubisoft, is now in fourth place, dropping one despite the fact that the publisher has been delivering more DLC for fans.

Grand Theft Auto V, the open world game from Rockstar, is in fifth and continues to get access to new patches for its troubled Online mode.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, from Warner Bros. Interactive, is in sixth place, an increase of one position over the previous tracked period, while Need for Speed: Rivals, the racing experience from EA, is in seventh.

The biggest rebound of the week is Killzone: Shadow Fall, the shooter from Guerrilla Games that’s exclusive for the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

Ninth place is occupied by the Xbox 360 version of indie hit Minecraft.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is the surprising game that closes down the UK top ten.
