Electronic Arts has confirmed that FIFA 14, the upcoming soccer simulator from its Sports division, will be powered by its impressive Ignite engine only on next-generation consoles, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The old engine will power the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 editions.

EA played a big role in Microsoft's Xbox One reveal yesterday, with the publisher confirming that its next array of sports games, including FIFA 14, Madden 25, NBA Live 14, or EA Sports UFC, will arrive on the Xbox One with an all-new engine called Ignite.

Among those titles, only FIFA 14 is scheduled to appear on the PC, so EA's Rob Hodson decided to clarify if the Ignite engine is going to appear in the PC edition of the soccer simulator.

According to his Twitter, Ignite will power FIFA 14 only on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, as the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 editions of the game will still feature the current technology.

No reasoning was given, so PC owners will have to get one of the new consoles to experience the best FIFA 14 version.
