“Welcome to the most authentic football game on the App Store,” reads a greeting from EA Sports high and above in the FIFA 14 description on the iTunes App Store.

FIFA 14 by EA SPORTS is officially available as a free download in New Zealand, and will soon make its international debut.

The game features 33 leagues, over 600 licensed teams, and around 16,000 players spanning the English Premier League, La Liga, the German Bundesliga, etc.

Matches are played across 34 authentic stadiums and commentary is available in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.

EA says you’ll be playing with “intuitive touch controls” but I think it’s high time the studio took advantage of Apple’s controller API in iOS 7, so we can all keep our greasy fingers off the action on-screen. No regrets or anything. Just saying it’s doable now.
