FIFA 14 is now officially announced and it seems that the development team at EA Sports is aiming for incremental changes rather than a wholesale revolution, with a number of features designed to increase the spectacle offered by each match.

Pure Shot is designed to change the way goals are scored, with players now having to adjust their pace and their position before aiming for the net.

FIFA 14 will introduce new shot types and a new idea called Real Ball Physics means that trajectories are closer to those seen in actual football matches, with force important from distance and skill becoming crucial at close range.

The midfield game has also been changed with Protect the Ball, a new mechanics that will allow players to better use strength and intelligence to move through opposition players and deliver a killer pass.

Variable Dribble Touches and Sprint Dribble Turns add more moves for on the pitch players to perform and skill is more important to the overall performance of midfielders.

David Rutter, the executive producer working on FIFA 14 at EA Sports, states in the official announcement, “FIFA 14 will play the way great football matches are contested with build up through midfield, tension throughout the match as chances are created, and incredible finishing.”

He adds, “Opportunities in FIFA 14 will be rewarding and great goals will look stunning.”

For the Career Mode, FIFA 14 introduces one major change, the new Global Scouting Network, which will allow gamers to create and then expand a network of club officials that can search for impressive players all year round.

The user interface has also been improved to make it easier for gamers to see what players are best fitted for their teams.

FIFA 14 will be launched on the PC, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the Xbox 360 from Microsoft at some point during the fall.
