Electronic Arts has confirmed that the online mode of all its sports games on the PC platform will be affected by a period of maintenance today, March 15, on the Origin digital distribution service.

EA and its Origin service have received a lot of criticism in recent weeks due to the whole controversy surrounding SimCity and now the company has confirmed that it's taking some of the servers of the online service down for maintenance.

Due to this outage, the online modes of all EA Sports games, including FIFA 13, are now unavailable, as players can't start any multiplayer matches on the internet.

The maintenance period has already started, at 12:00am PDT, according to Origin's Twitter account, and will last around 2 and a half hours.

No other details are known so EA Sports fans should just sit tight until the maintenance period ends.
