FIFA 12, the EA Sports-developed football simulation, has managed to once again top the United Kingdom video game top ten, ready to lead the country out of January and into the rest of the year as number one.

FIFA 12 has proved to be in many ways more resilient than the big blockbusters of last year, like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 or Battlefield 3, and shows how a solid game with a large fan base can take over the top of a video game chart simply by taking advantage of the lack of any real competition.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the open-world first-person action and role-playing mix from Bethesda Softworks, has taken second place for the week that ended on January 21, managing to gain one position over the previous week.

Just Dance 3, the rhythm game from French publisher Ubisoft, has slid down one place to reach the third spot coming from second, while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the first-person shooter from Infinity Ward and Activision Blizzard, now sits in the fourth place after spending the previous seven-day period on fifth.

Battlefield 3, the rival shooter franchise from developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts, has slid down one place to reach fifth while Zumba Fitness, from 505 Games, shows that the slow month of January can allow older releases to compete and is sitting on sixth place.

Saints Row: The Third, the open-world action game from Volition and THQ, has managed to re-enter the top ten on seventh place when coming from 14, while Zumba Fitness 2 has captured the eighth spot, lower than the original release in the series.

Rayman Origins, the platformer from Ubisoft, has also re-entered the top ten in ninth place, while the top positions in the chart are closed down by RAGE, another first-person shooter, this one developed by Bethesda.
