EA Sports has managed to take the number one spot in the United Kingdom video game chart for yet another week with its football simulation FIFA 12 managing to sell better than a number of high profile rivals, including a new release targeted specifically at a new platform.

For the week that ended on January 28 FIFA 12 has managed to sell better than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the first-person shooter from developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision Blizzard, which has climbed up a few places from fourth.

Third place has been occupied by The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, from Bethesda, and the open world and role-playing mix has managed to only slip down one place when compared to the previous seven-week period.

Just Dance 3, the rhythm game from French publisher Ubisoft, has also gone down one place to land in fourth while Battlefield 3, another big franchise launched in the fall of 2011 by Electronic Arts, now sits in fifth.

The biggest early year launch of 2012, Resident Evil: Revelations from Capcom, which is available just on the Nintendo 3DS handheld, has only been able to pick up sixth place during its debut week, which suggests that enthusiasm for three-dimensional experiences on the new Nintendo device is slowing down.

The original Zumba Fitness from 505 Games is now in seventh place, up one position when compared to the week that ended on January 21, while Saints Row: The Third, from publisher THQ and developer Volition, has lost one place to reach eighth.

Ninth is occupied by Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, which managed to return to the top ten after Ubisoft released some DLC for it, while the top ten is closed down by Zumba Fitness 2, with Rayman Origins now out of the top part of the United Kingdom video game chart.
