EA Sports is announcing that FIFA 10 Ultimate Team has been released and that all those who are interested in it can get it via download from Xbox Live or from the PlayStation Network. The add-on costs half the price charged for the expansion for FIFA 09, which means that players need to pay 400 Microsoft Points or 4.99 dollars. The original FIFA 10 is required for the Ultimate Team add-on, as is a working Internet connection.

Those who get the DLC will have access to more than 7,500 players with their characteristics fully researched and simulated and will be able to build more than one team using their choices, aiming to create the best starting eleven they are capable of. There are online tournaments everyone can take part in and each player can be traded for others that better fit the squad.

A statement from EA Sports plays up the changes made in Ultimate Team for FIFA 10, saying that “a completely redesigned chemistry system built around player relationships on the pitch means that managing teams and squads to their full potential is even more critical to success.”

Electronic Arts is revealing that Ultimate Team for FIFA 09 was the most successful paid downloadable content the company has ever put out, with more than 35 million player packs opened and more then 50 million players traded between gamers. Players were attracted to the expansion not only because of the customization angle it opened but also because of the trading element it introduced.

EA Sports is now working on both FIFA 11, which will probably arrive at some point during the fall of this year, and on 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, a game that will feature all the 199 teams involved in qualifications for the competition set to take place in June.
