Halo 3 killer

England is said to be the nation that invented football and its internal competition has certainly been supplying the most powerful teams in Europe and attracting the biggest players in the last few years. So, it's no surprise to see that FIFA 10 from EA Sports is the best sold videogame in the United Kingdom at the moment, becoming number one in the very week when it was released to retail, in the process sparking a minor price war between supermarkets and specialist shops.

The surprise of the week is not the domination of FIFA 10 but the fact that the leader of the previous one, Halo 3: ODST, created by Bungie and published by Microsoft, is not even in second place. That honor goes to Professor Layton and Pandora's Box, the videogame from Nintendo that emphasizes puzzles and the touch controls of the DS handheld. It will be interesting to see when Halo 3 stops its slide.

Need for Speed: Shift from Electronic Arts has managed to only drop one place and drift its way to fourth, while Wii Sports Resort that comes with the Motion Plus add on, which makes the Wiimote more capable of tracking movement, remains in the same place as last week, at five. Guitar Hero 5 from Activision remains at six, while another EA videogame, MySims Agents, has managed to debut at number seven.

Racing simulation title Colin McRae: DiRT 2 from Codemasters is at number eight, followed by Mario Kart Wii at number nine and by Batman: Arkham Asylum barely holding on at number ten, probably using a grappling hook.

There are also some titles that have gone out of the top ten. Wii Fit is at eleven as most potential buyers are getting ready to buy Wii Fit Plus when it arrives; Wet dropped off its ninth place, while Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 from Activision went to 12 from 7.
