At least in the United Kingdom

The weekly chart which ranks videogame sales regardless of formats in the United Kingdom came out to show that FIFA 09 from EA Sports managed to sell faster than any other installment in the series and be the third quickest selling game of the year, with only Grand Theft Auto IV and Halo 3 selling faster on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

The new FIFA game managed to attract gamers with a blend of graphical beauty, fresh gameplay mechanics and with the promise of implementing Adidas Live Updates all through the season. Expect a nice battle on the football games scene as Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 will be launched in the near future.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed retained number two, although the promise of a character pack and of a new level coming through DLC should have helped the game get the top spot. Brother's in Arms: Hell's Highway managed to debut at number three, with its promise of a more tactical approach to the now standard World War II shooter.

Wii Fit went down to fourth place, becoming one of the most long lasting titles ever released for the Nintendo Wii, followed at number five by Mario Kart Wii. Amazingly, Wii Play is still in the top ten at number seven.

The new role playing game from BioWare, Sonic Chronicles, debuted at number 31. Most reviewers say that it has solid gameplay mechanics and manages to make Sonic an interesting character again, although the setting might put off some RPG fans.

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning followed the normal path of sales for a MMO and went down from number 13 to number 32 in the chart. Mythic probably wishes the game to have spent at least a week more in the top ten, as the release date for the Wrath of the Lich King expansion for World of Warcraft is fast approaching.
