FFmpeg, a complete solution to record, convert, and stream audio and video, is now at version 2.2.3 and comes with a number of fixes and updates.

FFmpeg 2.2.x is the latest major release and this current build is just a maintenance version. It comes with a lot of new features, such as HNM version 4 demuxer and video decoder, Live HDS muxer, a complete Voxware MetaSound decoder, WebP encoding via libwebp, VP8 in Ogg demuxing, libx265 encoder, and more.

“It is the latest stable FFMpeg release from the 2.2 release branch, which was cut from master on 2014-03-01. Amongst lots of other changes, it includes all changes from ffmpeg-mt, libav master of 2014-03-01, libav 10.1 as of 2014-06-02,” reads the official announcement.

A number of packages have been updated in this release, including libavutil, libavcodec, libavformat, libavdevice, libavfilter, libswscale, libswresample, and libpostproc.

FFmpeg is the leading multimedia framework able to decode, encode, transcode, mux, demux, stream, filter, and play pretty much any media that humans and machines have created.

A complete list of updates, features, and other fixes can be found in the official announcement. You can download FFmpeg 2.2.3 right now from Softpedia, but this is the source package and you will have to compile it in order to get the new version in place.
