FF XIII Fans will Have to Wait Some More

Some 10 million Final Fantasy fans are going to be really disappointed reading that Swuare Enix president, Yoichi Wada has revealed to the press that FF XIII will not see the light of day during the company's fiscal year. Thus, FF XIII will be released sometime in 2008, as IGN reports.

For an announcement of such importance, the man says it loud and clear almost as if Square Enix wanted to hurt their fans: "[Final Fantasy XIII] will still take a bit more time. At the very least, [a release] this fiscal year is definitely out of the question," said Yoichi Wada. Not that they'd want to hurt them, but couldn't they have left a window open? I don't know, maybe just for hope. Hope is some people's last resort and you know how addicted gamers are.

The project known as Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII includes three titles for three different platforms. According to Square Enix, Final Fantasy XIII is neither a prequel nor a sequel to Final Fantasy Agito XIII or Final Fantasy Versus XIII; thus the company has explained that although all three games take place in the same universe, they are not directly related.

This is why I'm not a fan. It's just too much information for me. How do they keep track of everything going on with the story? Fans I mean. They must have a notebook where they write everything down, because otherwise they'd have to check with Wikipedia on a daily basis. Or not, after all, being a fan means "full commitment."

Unveiled at E3 2006, the game features a futuristic, high-tech world. Only two characters have been revealed thus far: a woman, code named Lightning, who wields a new weapon which seems to function as a sword and a firearm and her giant ally, who is yet an unnamed unfortunately.

According to an earlier statement coming from the same Square Enix President, the storyline will focus on "those who resist the world." Quite a world fans will have to resist in huh? They must face the never-ending shivers of anticipation, before they can even enter the "world." Will they still have strength to continue the fight with FF XIII? God, that sounded like a bad commercial...!

We'll keep our eyes peeled for more information as the events unfold and although I'm not a fan, I'm with you on this one 110%. The game just has to be released this year!
