A 3G-less Tytn

You've seen the 3G-less version of TyTn gone completely wild, and now it looks like the HTC Herald has found its way from the wilderness to the FCC.

Also known as the P4350, the Herald is one of those handsets packed with goodies that we've gotten used to seeing from the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer.

The Herald has also been officially announced in Europe, but it hasn't yet reached the US. While not including some of the features TyTn offers, such as 3G abilities, this handheld is considerably slimmer, at only 17 mm.

It comes equipped with a 2.8 inch 65k color touchscreen with a 240 x 320 (QVGA) resolution, 200 Mhz Ti OMAP 850 processor, 2 megapixel camera, 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM, a MicroSD card slot for additional storage space ensuring that the user gets to keep all the files needed on the phone.

Moreover, it brings quad-band and EDGE support as well as the very convenient QWERTY keyboard that has already become a must when it comes to devices targeting business users or just people who need to text a lot. Other features include the Windows Mobile 5.0 OS, Bluetooth and WiFi for connectivity and all the usual applications for document editing, multimedia or messaging.

If you have to have a handset with 3G capabilities, then the Tytn will probably be a better option, while some people might think that trading the 3G for the extra slimness is a pretty good deal.

Other than that, the Herald is quite a nice device, with a set of advanced features packed in a slim and light case. With the FCC approval and all, it should be shipping to the US soon, although no info is available as to when that will happen.
