Another filing may or may not be published before the release

We can't say that we are too short on details about the Iconia Tab A210 tablet, but we would still have preferred it if the FCC filing had provided an actual view of the internal parts.

Like all consumer electronics devices that communicate wirelessly, the Iconia Tab A210 had to go through some Federal Communications Commission tests.

Without the FCC approval, such products can't be sold in the united states. Also, though it isn't an actual rule, having an FCC filing published implies that sales will begin sooner rather than later.

For our part, all we can say is that it's about time. The product hasn't exactly been kept under lock and key, but that only led to higher interest.

Acer actually showcased it, alongside several others, even AMD Trinity-based models, during this year's edition of the Computex trade show (Computex 2012).

This also means that, despite the FCC filing not showing anything besides the label, the specs are largely known.

NVIDIA's Tegra 3 mobile SoC (system-on-chip) exhibits its mettle on a 10-inch LCD with multitouch support and a native resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels.

The system memory is 1 GB, which is not bad but not great either. Smartphones will move to 2 GB default this autumn, which places this tablet somewhat behind the curve.

There is no law that states Acer can't upgrade the spec sheet though, so there is hope yet. What's more, there won't be much room for complaints if Acer plays the pricing card right too.

Alas, we do not have any price tag to share, but we'll be keeping an eye out for more leaks, so we will provide it when we can. As for the ETA (estimated time of arrival), “Q3” (third quarter) is all we have to go on at this moment. In other words, sales may commence at any point between today and September 30.
