An international cybercriminal operation was terminated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in collaboration with the Bulgarian authorities.

The members of the gang are suspected of sending phishing emails that were allegedly coming from financial institutions to individuals from the US with the purpose of obtaining just enough data to access their bank accounts.

Three computer hackers from the state capital of Sofia and from Burgas were apprehended by the Computer Crimes Department of Bulgaria's Unit for Combating Organized Crime (GDBOP), reports Novinite.

Computers, phones, account data and blank credit cards were seized from the suspects aged between 28 and 35.

Just a few days ago, international authorities managed to apprehend a hacker collective in the neighboring country, Romania. In that case, four individuals were charged with infecting point-of-sales devices located in more than 200 restaurants and retailers across the US.
