The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has launched iGuardian, a new portal that companies can use to report cyberattacks and cyber threats. The FBI hopes that the system will allow it to improve the way it responds to cyberattacks.

According to Federal News Radio, iGuardian is available to a total of 58,000 organizations that are part of the agency’s InfraGuard network.

The service will be tested over the next few months. Based on the results, the FBI will determine how it can extend the program to other companies.

Present at the AFCEA International Global Intelligence Forum in Washington, FBI Assistant Director of the Criminal, Cyber, Response Services Branch Rick McFeely noted that, at some point, the platform would likely be made available to a much wider audience.

“Obviously, our concern is the critical infrastructure sectors that are out there. They'll probably be the next up. But we know that, from a technological standpoint, it works; it's working now. We have a very high degree of faith that this is going to work,” McFeely said.
