The site was offline for several hours after being targeted by the hackers

Even though it was the day in which Anonymous hacktivists usually attack the Federal Bureau of Investigations, this Friday the hackers targeted the official site of the Central Intelligence Agency (cia.gov).

After not long ago they temporarily shut down the website of the Department of Homeland Security, Anonymous decided to do the same with the site run by the CIA, taking it down for several hours.

Currently the website is back online, but it’s loading much slower than usual, which may mean that they’re still in the recovery process.

Last Friday, as part of the FFF operation, hackers published a conference call between the FBI and Scotland Yard. The call reveals a conversation between agents, in which they discuss Anonymous, AntiSec, and LulzSec, and their members.

Recently we’ve had the opportunity to talk to a Radware expert about the DDOS attacks launched by Anonymous against government sites. Ron Meyran, the director of security products at Radware said that most of these websites were not designed to handle attacks and that was why in many cases they were easily shut down.
