F1: David Coulthard Refuses to Apologize Any Further to the American Fans

David Coulthard may be the only driver inside the Formula One who had the courage to respond to the US officials these days. And when I say that, I refer to the way he shut all the critics' mouths regarding the Indianapolis GP this weekend. It is already known -I have also mentioned it during the past few days - the fiasco that the last year's race turned out to be, after Michelin withdrawn from the race.

A whole mess started on the circuit, after which the only beneficiaries proved to be Ferrari and Michael Schumacher. After only 6 cars being present
in the starting grid, it would have been truly unbelievable if Ferrari hadn't won the race. And that's exactly what happened. After a long series of discussions and apologies, Michelin made a promise to all the American fans that it would never happen again.

Still, David Coulthard replied to the American organizers earlier today, saying that too many exaggerations have been made in terms of apologies and that enough is enough: "We have said our sorries. I don't see why the American public deserves more apologies than some other races which have not been particularly good. If the Americans enjoy it, that's great. If they don't then so be it".

The Scottish driver then continued, saying that he hopes to have a good run in the US and to get a point-rewarding position. Still, he wanted to remind everybody that what happened last year was a disgrace to the competition - in terms of fans' behavior - and he will not stand it anymore: "This is going to leave a long, lasting bitter taste in people's mouths. Quite frankly, as a driver I'm embarrassed to be involved in this situation".

Hopefully, we will not have to go through that one more time, since the French tyre manufacturer promised everyone they will not repeat the whole scene. More, they wanted to let everyone know that Michelin will do anything in their power to go out of Formula One with a first - and last - success on American ground.
