This December, you’ll have a good reason to stay indoors, away from the cold. Codemasters’ F1 2013 Formula 1 simulator will be available for download on OS X platforms with a $64.99 (€48.38) price tag.

The highly-anticipated title promises to offer Mac gamers the chance to “experience all the thrills of the 2013 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP” and race classic cars on legendary circuits in an all-new F1 Classics game mode.

Faithfully reflecting the challenge and exhilaration of racing this year’s stunning roster of cars, F1 2013 features all the models and all the pilots and circuits from the 2013 season, including all of the new rules, tire changes, etc.

In Career mode, players will compete for motorsports’ ultimate prize spanning five seasons. Multiplayer can be done co-op and in the new Scenario Mode.

Feral Interactive, the company Codemasters has chosen to publish the game on the Mac, says, “Players will also get to recreate historic FORMULA ONE in F1 Classics mode, which features famous cars, drivers and circuits from the 1980s.”

A Premium edition of F1 2013 will arrive with additional content. Six classic cars with Damon Hill and Michael Schumacher behind the wheel are available in the first DLC pack, while a second one contains two additional tracks: Imola and Estoril.

David Stephen, managing director of Feral Interactive, said, “F1 2013 offers Mac gamers a complete racing experience.”

“The Scenario and F1 Classics modes are exhilarating tests of driving skill, and the additional content packs contain decades’ worth of legendary FORMULA ONE content.”

To play the game when it’s made available in December, you’ll need a decently-specced Mac with OS X 10.8.5 Mountain Lion Installed, 6GB of RAM, 512MB (or better) for the visuals, and around 13 gigs of drive space.

Supported video cards include NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M, ATI Radeon HD 4670, and Intel HD Graphics 4000.
