F-Secure Corporation announced the official opening of its Malaysian technology center in the country's capital Kuala Lumpur. F-Secure has
established a security research center and technical support operation in Kuala Lumpur and is currently staffing the development function. This supports F-Secure's strategic goal to amplify its presence in Asian markets. In 2005 and 2006 the company established offices in Singapore, New Delhi, Mumbai and now in Kuala Lumpur. F-Secure has had a Japanese office already for many years.

Of particular importance is F-Secure's Malaysian Research & Security Response organization. The F-Secure Security Labs Kuala Lumpur will be responsible for providing security response services for detection, removal and information related to malware, spyware, rootkit, phishing and targeted attacks. This move strengthens further F-Secure's position to deliver 24/7 protection against emerging new threats to its customers.

Malaysia was selected as a key hub for Asian operations for its well qualified human resources, the country's initiative to encourage high tech companies to set up business there and its strategically optimal time zone six hours ahead Helsinki.

F-Secure's R&D development capability will also be boosted by the creation of a new R&D center in Kuala Lumpur. The center will aim in the first phase to build new solutions for emerging threats.

Speaking about the new office launch, Risto Siilasmaa, President and CEO of F-Secure said:
"The establishment today of our Malaysian operation is an auspicious moment in F-Secure's history and a validation of the tremendous importance of Asian markets to our corporate strategy. We are particularly proud of the creation of the new F-Secure Security Labs here in Kuala Lumpur as part of our pledge to deliver the industry's best data security available."
