Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that it will launch a new installment in its F.E.A.R. Franchise in the fall of this year. The game will be developed by Day 1 Studios and will be outed on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the PC. F.E.A.R. 3 will keep the same signature horror atmosphere seen in the previous two titles while introducing a cooperative play enabled narrative, which stars both the Point Man and Paxton Fettel.
Warner Bros. is saying that John Carpenter, the well known horror movie director who has worked on titles like Halloween, The Thing and Big Trouble in Little China, and script creator Steve Niles have been brought in to enhance the horror feel of the game, which was rather weak in F.E.A.R. 2. Alma will again serve as the main antagonist of the game but Warner Bros. has not said what the plans for the player will be this time.
It seems that in F.E.A.R. 3, a full squad of special operatives will not be accompanying the player. The Point Man, the genetically engineered soldier with hyper quick reflexes, can tackle the challenges of the game alone or he can rely on another human who plays the role of Paxton Fettel that bases his powers around telekinesis. In addition to the single player narrative, F.E.A.R. 3 will also deliver a host of multiplayer modes allowing for competitive play.
Martin Tremblay, who serves as president at
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, stated as part of the announcement that “Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is evolving the F.E.A.R. brand with top horror, co-op and first person shooter combat in F.E.A.R. 3. Monolith Productions has passed the torch to Day 1 Studios to create a quality, powerful game that stays true to the roots of the F.E.A.R. franchise but takes players to a heightened level of gameplay.”
