Monolith Studios, as the developer, and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, as the publisher, are announcing that
F.E.A.R. 2 will be getting a new downloadable content pack set to expand the single player content of the shooter.
The DLC will be called Reborn and is set to arrive on the PlayStation 3 from Sony, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PC on September 3 and the developer is also planning to offer a demo of the new levels on August 27.
Reborn is set to include four new single player levels, roughly the same size as those offered in the original release, which will be telling a story that runs parallel to the events depicted in the Armachan assault. Reborn will cast the player into the combat boots of a Replica solider, aptly named Foxtrot813. He starts being influenced by Alma to go against his comrades and will offer a gameplay experience markedly different by that offered by the almost super human protagonist of the original campaign.
All the gamers who get the Reborn DLC pack will also receive access to another multiplayer match mode free of charge. The Slow-Mo Deathmatch involves a power up that can allow a character to slow down enemies. As a player holds on to it for more time, they score more points but also become a bigger target for the other players in the match.
There have already been two other DLC packs for F.E.A.R. 2: Armored Front was released on May 21 and Toy Soldiers went live on April 16. The original release of the
shooter managed to offer some interesting firefights and some intended to be scary Alma-powered moments but the overall experience felt too shallow and short to be a top game for 2009.
