Warner Bros. is determined to win the superhero competition with Marvel, or at the very least, put up a decent fight. With “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” scheduled for theatrical release in 2016, it’s looking to launch “Justice League Part 1” shortly after – and then continue from that.

Warner Bros. Chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara has confirmed that “The Flash” is one of the superhero projects in the pipeline at the studio, and while it won’t be out in theaters until 2018, it already has its leading man, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

His name is Ezra Miller, and unless you’re a fan of indies, chances are you haven’t heard of him until now. He is a brilliant actor (and musician) who has already gotten very positive reviews from the critics for his performances in “We Need to Talk About Kevin” and “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.”

Both movies got some mainstream media attention because they also starred Tilda Swinton and Emma Watson, respectively. A full “We Need to Talk About Kevin” review is also available on our website.

Now, Miller is making the transition to the superhero genre. He is to play Barry Allen, a scientist who wakes up from a coma to find out that he has the power of super speed. Word online has it that we should expect a cameo from him in “Batman V. Superman,” which will set the basis for Justice League.

It would make sense, considering the timing of the announcement.

Speaking of which, Tsujihara has also confirmed a standalone Wonder Woman film with Gal Gadot, set for release in 2017 a second “Justice League” movie for 2019, and a standalone Aquaman film, which will come out the same year as “The Flash,” in 2018.

Jason Momoa from “Game of Thrones” will play Aquaman, as reports online have been saying for more weeks than I dare to count right now.
