December filling the Google Earth stockings hung next to your laptop

As a traditional orthodox holiday, Saint Nicholas is said to bring either candy or a stick to children, depending on whether they've been nice or naughty during the year. Or at least, that's how it's like where I'm from. Needless to say that everybody's a child at heart or that everybody receives something, and I don't want to go into extensive details about the year percentage of how many punishment instruments are being received. Granted, they did have a ribbon on them and were wrapped.

In case you're not familiar with the tradition, you're supposed to polish your shoes and leave them standing neatly by the door and Saint Nick is bound to come and deliver on his end. Well, I let my shoes where they should have been, but also placed my laptop in its backpack next to it, getting ready to go to work. And I did get the stick, but I also got?

A Google Earth update, full of candy, eye-candy that is. It's got a lot of new colors and icons, watching it all is a real pleasure, although it will probably disappear in a while because of the implementation of its unique options into Google Maps, thus making them unique no more. It's an entire discussion about it, revolving around the fact that Google is not a software company and Google Earth requires a client install. But anyway, spirit of good will be for all.

Roads have been launched for South Africa and Poland, and business listings have been added for Finland, Norway, Denmark, Austria, Sweden and Switzerland. I'm sure the last country had no position on the update, its neutrality being well known throughout history. It has an "I don't care, do what you must" kind of attitude, or at least that's how I've perceived it.

If that update actually helps you, if you're in one of the countries mentioned, don't wait, just go ahead and launch the application. I know you want to.
