Naturalists doing research at the Peak Wilderness Sanctuary were more than delighted when they stumbled upon the Kandyan dwarf toad.

Apparently, the said toad was last seen about 133 years ago, so scientists assumed it to be extinct.

Rumor has it that the Kandyan dwarf toad is soon to be included in the Red List of Threatened Species, as, though not completely off the environmental map, the animal is still on the verge of extinction.

The naturalist who helped identify the toad said that “It’s most likely that this population will be categorized as a critically endangered.”

This fortunate discovery gives hope that many other species that we consider to be extinct are in fact just hiding.
