Extensis has announced iPad support in their Digital Asset Management (DAM) software, Portfolio Server 10. They also plan on switching folks from Final Cut Pro Server over to their own solution.

“Employees and clients are infinitely mobile and over 75 percent of businesses plan to deploy tablets by the end of 2013. Our goal is to deliver the tools that keep them efficient,” said Davin Kluttz, Extensis’ senior product manager for DAM Solutions.

Powered by Equilibrium MediaRich Server, Portfolio Server’s Media Engine is said to simplify common production tasks.

It enables fast file processing on the server allowing users to deliver files by converting them into the desired format all using their portable computing system, in this case, the Apple iPad.

Portfolio Server 10 is said to make it super easy to deliver any type of digital media on-demand.

“We’re looking forward to the upcoming iPad support in Portfolio Server 10,” said Tracy Cortez, principal of RAC Design Build, an architecture and construction firm based in Los Angeles.

"We are a fast-paced firm that relies on immediate access to our library of project images, and Portfolio Server is the only product that has been able to provide this. This new mobile functionality will further our marketing efforts ten-fold," Cortez added.

The NetPublish Tablet Template feature lets users search, preview, play and download digital media anywhere from the iPad.

Enhanced A/V support allows them to manage and playback audio and video files via the Web. wjile NetMediaMAX HD converts video for the web and mobile devices.

Portfolio Server 10 also brings automated User Management, which translates into easy administration and access by users with Active Directory integration.

Available immediately from the developers’ website, Portfolio Server 10 starts at $1,999.

Existing Portfolio Server customers under an annual service agreement will receive the new version free of charge.

Finally, Extensis said that competitive upgrades are available for a number of products, including Apple’s own Final Cut Pro Server.
