   Officials are looking into a blast at the Naval Weapons Station Earle in Middletown

Reports say that an explosion has taken place at the Naval Weapons Station Earle in Middletown, New Jersey. The incident was reported this morning, on Tuesday, August 20.

WABC informs that blasts were heard at 9 a.m. on a ship stationed in a building on the Naval base grounds.

Workers were performing maintenance tasks at the time, and they were injured. Paramedics transported eight people to the hospital, all members of the Naval base staff.

One person incurred serious wounds while seven others were checked out for smoke inhalation and minor injuries. There have been no fatalities.

Nobody outside the station was hurt and the blast was contained within boathouse grounds. Police are currently investigating the cause of the blast and I will keep you updated with more information on this story as details emerge.
