For only $15 (€11) per month anyone can sign up for a subscription-based Bitcoin mining service. Webroot experts have spotted such a service being advertised on a cybercrime forum.

According to Webroot’s Dancho Danchev, the DIY Bitcoin mining tool supports both SHA256 and Scrypt mining.

“The Bitcoin mining tool comes with a DIY generating tool, start up functionality, installation persistence, assembly changer, icon changer, support for both Bitcoin and Litecoin CPU/GPU, the ability to change the CPU/GPU threads, as well as the ability to adjust the GPU fan percentage,” Danchev explained.

Those interested in the offer can pay the price via PayPal, Bitcoin, Terracoin or Litecoin.

Cybercriminals can generate Bitcoins by placing the tool on malware-infected machines.

Since there are many underground shops offering access to hacked computers, the criminals don’t even have to bother hijacking the devices themselves.
