The site uses WordPress, but it hasn't been updated to the latest version

Glenn Greenwald, the former Guardian journalist who has been covering many of the Edward Snowden leaks, has launched his new project, The Intercept.

However, a security expert warns that there are some issues that should be addressed, particularly since some well-funded actors might be targeting the site.

Since The Intercept will primarily focus on NSA stories, it’s likely that the government will keep a close eye on it. Considering that the NSA has almost unlimited resources, the website’s developers should make sure that it’s highly secure.

Soon after the launch of The Intercept, security researcher Adam Caudill highlighted the fact that WordPress is used, and it's not updated to the latest version.

He has also published a screenshot showing the login window for the website’s administration panel.

Caudill has also highlighted that the server leaks a bit too much information. While there’s nothing truly sensitive, the expert underlines that the project has to deal with “a very different class of attacker.”

At the time of writing, the website is offline due to the large number of users trying to accessing it.

Update. The Intercept representatives say they're working on addressing all issues, including the ones related to security.
