A Canadian couple have had their very expensive race horse get stuck on the rooftop of a garage. Pat and Stephen Downey were told about having their horse being trapped on the garage roof by Stephen's brother, Archie. He used a long pole to bring it down.

“He called as soon as he got him off because he didn’t have any trouble. Well, it took him a while, but he didn’t have any trouble getting him off,” Pat recalls.

They couldn't believe their eyes when they saw the photo.

“It looked like Archie had done a joke on Stephen and Photoshopped the horse on the roof because that just doesn’t happen. [...] You would never get a horse to do something like that,” she says.

The animal had climbed on their Hampton, New Brunswick, farmhouse. According to Huffington Post the colt is named “Must Win,” and he is one of several owned by the family.

The Downeys can't yet grasp how it climbed up there and why, but they write it off to boredom.

“I think he was just bored. He’s here alone and he’s usually not alone.

“He’s like a two or three-year-old kid and he was just looking for some excitement and he got into trouble like a regular kid would do,” Pat Downey says.

He adds that the race horse has jumped a three-foot (90-cm) knoll to get to the roof area, which he has now fenced.

“Must Win” has been in danger the hole time. The roof would not stand its weight for long, and it could have fallen through. The fall would have resulted in serious injuries or death.

“You know, his hooves actually went through the roof at one point; there were holes on it. How he did not fall through completely is just a miracle,” Downey notes.

The Daily Telegraph reports that the horse has not been harmed during the adventure.
