Snaps of Vodafone Germany’s inventory system show availability of both the black iPhone 4 and the white version of the handset in 16GB and 32GB forms, with the official launch expected to occur 'soon', a reliable source cited by a high profile tech blog claims.

The shots Engadget received from this allegedly “trusted source” show new entries in Vodafone Germany's inventory system for weiß (white) iPhone 4 units in both 16GB and 32GB capacities.

Although it is also possible that Vodafone Germany is simply preparing for the smartphone’s launch, “for what it's worth, the source says to expect a launch ‘soon’,” the tech site reveals.

Apple has delayed the launch of its white iPhone 4 not once, but thrice since the controversial, fourth-generation handset was introduced in the summer of 2010.

In June 2010, Apple accused manufacturing difficulties posed by this version of the device.

It continued to sell the black version as planned, promising to get around to launching the white model soon.

That didn’t go quite as planned, with Apple announcing the following month (July 2010) that iPhone 4 White was still a no go.

Apple’s third and last delay of the handset (so far) was this October when it noted that its elusive white iPhone 4 would not arrive until spring 2011.

The Vodafone Germany leak seems to fall in line with Apple’s schedule for the white iPhone 4 release, although it can hardly be called confirmation that the smartphone is on its way to German warehouses.

The last time a white iPhone 4 launch was speculated was earlier this month, when Verizon announced plans to make news with a major announcements.

Although that announcement did turn out to be the “Verizon iPhone,” as rumors had indicated for almost a year, the device featured the same black enclosure, much to the disappointment of Apple die-hard fans.

The Verizon iPhone is, however, a new-breed device boasting a CDMA chip and a new antenna design.
