Coming to add their names to the history of IT licensing deals, ExpoPC and Skytex have reached an agreement through which the former's UI will be usable by the latter.

Windows-loaded tablets haven't exactly been very successful, despite quite a few attempts at making a versatile enough model.

The operating system just wasn't made for these things and definitely doesn't match Android or iOS in terms of multimedia, content access (app stores) etc.

One reason is the fact that the UI (user interface) doesn't much fit with the form factor, nor with the almost exclusive reliance on touch input.

Aiming to circumvent this limitation, Skytex made a deal with ExoPC, for the use of its unique UI in the Skytab S Series Windows 7 slate.

The item is set to debut at some point next month (October 2011) and will have a “special edition” of the user interface.

"We're pleased to see our OEM partners' continued commitment to delivering state-of-the-art mobile computing products to the enterprise and consumer markets," said Eddie O'Brien, VP of US OEM sales, Microsoft Corporation.

"The new Skytab S-series tablet by Skytex provides a great combination of the adaptability and robust features of Windows 7 with an innovative multi-touch tablet experience."

Unfortunately, besides the screen size of 9.7 inches, the Intel Atom N550 central processing unit (CPU) and the 2 GB of DDR3 RAM (random access memory), not much is known for certain about the hardware, though it is easy to assume that USB, Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, perhaps even HDMI will be present and accounted for.

"The EXOPC team is proud to launch a customized touch-friendly UI on the Skytab S-series dual-core tablet,” said Shan Ahdoot, CEO of EXOPC.

“Optimized in terms of responsiveness for the Windows tablet, featuring state of the art ergonomics and design, this special edition of the EXO UI brings a unique user-centric feel, look and experience."

Exopc have no idea they released this ui sep last year and they don't even have a virtual keyboard in their yet, it's absolutely full of bugs and not worth using. They have stolen flash games from websites and included them in the app store, pathetic, they continually promise but never deliver, I would not recommend anyone buy their product
