Norwegian software company Opera has just announced a partnership with Vodafone Essar for the release of a special flavor of the Opera Mini mobile browser in India.

The new announcement follows the extension of the global frame agreement that Vodafone Group Services and Opera Software made earlier this year.

Vodafone users in India are already able to enjoy the new co-branded version of the Opera Mini across the carrier's network in the country, the duo announced.

The new mobile application offers users the possibility to enjoy a better and faster web browsing experience on their carrier's network.

”We are delighted to promote our new co-branded Opera Mini product to our customers. Our mobile Internet user base has increased dramatically in the past six months,” Jonathan Bill, VP Internet Services, Vodafone Essar Ltd stated.

“We know that Opera Mini brings a great fast mobile Internet experience to our customers, both new to the Internet and experienced users. The co-branded version brings new, enhanced functionality to Vodafone’s customers, giving them easy one-click access to key content and applications.”

Opera Mini is available on a wide range of mobile phones, which means that most of the wireless carrier's customers will be able to enjoy Internet access on their devices.

The co-branded browser version will come with a series of customized Speed Dial shortcuts aimed at providing users with fast access to various unique features that Vodafone Essar put up for them.

India already is one of the largest countries in the world when it comes to Opera Mini usage, and the new agreement should expand the reach of Opera's mobile browser even more.

Opera Mini comes with a wide range of features aimed specifically at the owners of mobile phones, such as a special compression technology that enables users benefit from less data usage when accessing the Internet.

“By expanding the partnership with Vodafone Essar, one of the largest Indian telecom operators, we are also expanding the connected world even more. To be part of that expansion, that is exciting," said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software.

“There's good reason for the consumers to be excited too, as this opens up the Web for even more Indian mobile phone users who now have an easier time participating on the Web. We strongly believe that everyone has a right to be connected to the Internet, and with Vodafone Essar we are making this come true.”
