Mihai Andries is the head researcher for Sports Interactive for Romania and he was kind enough to answer some questions about this year’s installment of the football-focused franchise.

Softpedia: What’s your role inside the Sports Interactive organization and how does it influence the final shape of Football Manager 2014?

Mihai Andries: I am Head Researcher for Romania and my task consists in updating the database for our country, including the rules of the competition.

Softpedia: How much does Sports Interactive invest in the research process for clubs and players?

Mihai Andries: This is something I cannot answer, because I have no idea. We have no info on this. Softpedia: What’s the best improvement in this year’s installment of the game from your point of view?

Mihai Andries: Just one? Hard to pick. The "Cloud save" system, the ability to play on Linux for the first time, the new transfer system with more real-life options, the finances, the new editor… there are a lot of improvements in FM 2014.

Softpedia: Will veteran fans see a clear difference between Football Manager 2014 and last year’s version?

Mihai Andries: Definitely. The first impact will be the new tactical system, that is missing the sliders.

Softpedia: Can you give players some hit tips when it comes to cheap or young players around whom a team can be built?

Mihai Andries: Here are some wonder-kids to watch: Mats Dæhli, Casasola, Fosu, Gabriel Jhon Cortez, Seo Myung-Won, Arak, and Demirci.

Softpedia: Are there any Romanian players that gamers should keep an eye out for?

Mihai Andries: Obviously. From abroad, there are Chiricheş, Brănescu, and Nica. In Romania proper: Tudorie, Nicolae Vasile, Buia, Marc, and Rotariu.

Softpedia: Finally, do you have a favorite team that you’ll try to lead to glory?

Mihai Andries: I am a Dinamo fan, but this season it will be hard to lead them to glory.

We have a Softpedia review for Football Manager 2014 that offers more information on the core mechanics.
