14 DAY TRIAL // Customers running Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 1 (SP1) now have a new collection of updates at their disposal, designed to fix a range of issues impacting the product.
Exchange Server 2010 SP1 Update Rollup 5 is available for download from Microsoft, offered free of charge as of August 23rd, 2011.
“This update contains a number of customer-reported and internally found issues since the release of SP1,” revealed Brent Alinger, from the Exchange team.
Customers with Exchange Server 2010 SP1 can head over to the Microsoft Download Center and grab UR5 immediately.
Alternatively, they can also opt to wait until the software giant gives green light to the refresh package’s distribution through Microsoft Update, although it’s going to be quite a wait, approximately a month.
“Availability of this update on Microsoft Update is planned for late September,” Alinger revealed.
As it’s usually the case, Exchange Server 2010 SP1 Update Rollup 5 is accompanies by a Knowledge Base article designed to provide details about all of the changes that the collection of refreshes brings to the table for customers.
KB 2582113 contains an enumeration of the hotfixes that Microsoft packed into Exchange Server 2010 SP1 Update Rollup 5, of which Alinger highlighted the following:
“2543879 PDF attachment from a Mac Mail client is not displayed when you use Outlook 2010 to open the email message in an Exchange Server 2007 SP3 environment.
2556352 MoveItem returning empty ChangeKey.
2555850 Unable to delete a folder whose name has a particular character code.
2490134 OWA's zip-download does not work for some messages due to invalid chars in the subject.”
Following the release through Microsoft Update next month, UR5 will be followed by Exchange Server 2010 SP1 Update Rollup 6. According to the Redmond company’s current plans, Exchange Server 2010 SP1 Update Rollup 5 will be offered for download sometime by the end of October 2011.
