14 DAY TRIAL // Marc Anthony and Dayanara Torres, the 1993 Miss Universe, were married between 2000 and 2004 and have 2 children together. Until now, he’s been paying $13,000 (€9,574) a month in child support, but Torres now filed papers to ask a judge to grant her almost 10 times that amount – also monthly.
Torres and Anthony’s divorce was anything but amicable. In fact, they had been separated for roughly 2 years before it was pronounced final and, just one week after it was, he had already tied the knot with Jennifer Lopez.
You can understand why Dayanara always assumed he’d been cheating on her with the curvaceous Jenny from the Block. Well, now, she’s using Jennifer’s example as argument for why she should be awarded more in child support.
Torres believes Marc should pay her $113,00 (€83,222) a month because, just this year, he “boasted he makes $1.25 mil [€920,606] a month — MINIMUM,” TMZ reports.
“It’s especially infuriating for Dayanara, who claims Marc played the poverty card during their divorce, claiming he had such money trouble he had to sell his private island and let some of his staff go. Now get this, the week the divorce became final, she says he bought JLo a $4 MILLION [€2.94 million] RING!” says the same media outlet.
As if that weren’t bad enough, Marc is also neglecting his boys, Dayanara alleges in the papers, recalling one particular occasion in which he called them to tell them that he was too caught up in work to keep a pre-arranged meeting with them, only for them to see him later on TV with Jennifer, on vacation at the beach.
The former beauty queen admits that Marc showers the boys with expensive gifts, presumably to compensate for the time he doesn’t spend with them, but she adds that they live in such a tiny apartment that they don’t even have enough space to play with the toys he sends them.
“She also grouses that Marc actually PAYS JLO child support, and a lot of it — way more than she gets,” TMZ says, with the obvious implication that Lopez doesn’t need any kind of financial support since she’s so well off herself.
So far, no word on this from Anthony’s camp.
