Ex-U2 stylist Lola Cashman declared today in Dublin Circuit Civil Court that she was very scared when the U2 lawyers accused her for stiling the items she wanted to sell. "I was intimidated over the phone by a big firm of lawyers. I was incredibly frightened," she said.
Bono and his band, U2, are suing an ex-stylist for blackmailing them and for selling their personal belongings without asking them.
The band members are attempting to recover $6000 worth of souvenirs, including a Stetson cowboy hat, sweatshirt, trousers and earrings worn by Bono during the band's 1987 "Joshua Tree" world tour.
Cashman said she received the items from Bono, as gifts, who had recruited her to update the band's image. "I did not steal those pieces. They were given to me."
"I was proud of what I had achieved with the band. Bono liked wearing hats and I changed his style slightly," she said.
