Turtle Rock Studios and 2K Games have just revealed the very special Evacuation mode that's included in their upcoming Evolve first-person shooter, which delivers a campaign-like experience composed of five matches that affect each other depending on the winning faction.

Evolve promises to blend cooperative and competitive multiplayer into a single package, as four hunters need to work together to take down a monster that must, in turn, defeat the hunters.

So far, the game's main Hunt mode has been showcased by developer Turtle Rock and publisher 2K, in which the two factions play a cat and mouse game across different maps.

Evacuation mode promises to deliver a complex experience

Now, the two companies confirm that a very special Evacuation mode stands at the center of the Evolve experience, which basically includes different game types and consequences scattered across five matches.

"While it isn’t a campaign in the classic sense, there is a story to tell: The planet Shear is getting overrun by Monsters. Within five days, the battle for Shear will be won or lost depending on the actions of four Hunters…and, of course, one mutating Monster. Those five days are broken up into five rounds as you fight your way across the planet," the studio explains on its website.

The first round in every Evacuation experience is always Hunt, which sees the monster try to reach stage 3 evolution and destroy the power relay, while the hunters need to stop him by any means necessary. Killing each other also nets a victory.

Afterwards, depending on the successful faction, different things can happen that affect the next round in Evacuation, which is decided via a vote in terms of location and mode. These range from extra wildlife to smaller maps or beefier anti-monster turrets.

Plenty of modes are also included

A few other modes are available in the Evacuation experience, starting with Nest, which sees the monster try to protect his alien egg stashes scattered across the map. If the monster gets to it, it can hatch one and turn it into a minion level 1 monster that goes after the hunters. If the hunters destroy all eggs and the minion, or kill the main monster, they win the match.

Rescue is another available mode, which scatters injured colonists across the map. The monster must find and eat them while the hunters must revive and get them to safety.

The final fifth round in every Evacuation experience is Defend, which sees hunters try to defend an airship that's refueling in front of waves of level 1 Goliath enemies, as well as the main monster.

In order to show just how an Evacuation experience can unfold, a special map is available above, highlighting the five rounds. You can also admire a gameplay video with such a session.
