2K Games and Turtle Rock Studios’ upcoming 4v1 first-person shooter monster hunting game, Evolve, won the Best of Gamescom 2014 award, the organizers of the game industry trade show announced.

In addition to winning the Best of Gamescom 2014, Evolve also won the Best Console Game on Microsoft’s Xbox One, Best Action Game, Best PC Game and Best Multiplayer Game.

The upcoming asymmetrical shooter pits a team of four players, each of them having a different specialization, against a ferocious and deadly monster, controlled by an opposing player.

The team has to work together and discover the synergies between the classes in order to be able to take down the beast before it can evolve and become too powerful, and from what the devs have released so far, the game is worth the praise.

Sony and Nintendo are the only other companies to win in multiple categories, with Nintendo winning the Most Wanted Consumer Award (won through the votes of gamers and Gamescom attendees) with Super Smash Bros., the Best Console Game Nintendo Wii with Splatoon, the upcoming team-based paint splatter shooter, as well as Best Mobile Game with Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS.

Sony, on the other hand, won Best Family Game and Best Social, Casual or Online Game awards, both of them being handed by the expert jury to LittleBigPlanet 3.

A number of 140 submissions were sent for this year’s edition of the Gamescom awards, and out of them, a total of 54 made it to the final nominations.
