Premium hunters and add-ons are also coming

Turtle Rock Studios confirms that all the different maps for Evolve, its upcoming first-person shooter, will be available for free, so that all players will be able to keep on having a great time even if they didn't get certain DLC packs.

Evolve is the next big online experience that's set to take the world by storm in early 2015. The game has a cooperative side, as a team that includes four different hunters must fight competitively against a monster that's also controlled by a human.

As you can imagine, the multiplayer experience is ripe for downloadable content, and developer Turtle Rock already promises that it will debut a free monster as DLC after the actual launch, for all those who pre-order the game.

Maps will be free in Evolve

However, the studio isn't that greedy and confirms that Evolve's different maps will be available for free to all players, as it doesn't want to split the community depending on whether or not they got some levels.

According to Evolve's Creative Director Phil Robb, the studio set out right from the beginning to ensure that the community would remain united and could keep playing with each other without DLC purchases interfering with that process.

"First thing we [Evolve's creative leads] said was we can't break the community up, so all of our maps will be free. We never want anyone to get booted off of a server because they haven't bought something," he tells IGN.

Evolve DLC includes maps, monsters, and hunters

According to Robb, the add-ons planned for Evolve include quite a few different things, from the free maps, to premium hunters and monsters. However, even if players don't buy the expansions, they'll still be able to fight against the new monsters or alongside the new hunters in their team.

"We'll have characters and monsters, and even if you don't buy them, if your buddy wants to buy the DLC, that's cool, and your game will be enhanced through his purchase," Robb adds. "So, you won't be able to play as those characters, but you will certainly be able to play with those characters."

Turtle Rock is set to continue sharing more details about Evolve in the following months, as we get closer to the game's debut on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms on February 10 worldwide. Until then, check out a few more screenshots with the multiplayer experience in action, depicting both its monsters and its hunters.
