Evolve, the cooperative shooter experience from developer Turtle Rock and publisher 2K Games, has managed to win the Best of Show award offered by the critics that were involved in the recent E3 2014 trade show.

The title has also been awarded the Best Console Game, Best Action Game and Best Online Multiplayer titles and seems poised to be one of the most important launches of the coming year.

Evolve is an asymmetric experience which pits a team of four Hunters, who can choose from a variety of characters, against a monster that is also controlled by a human player.

The four need to work as a team in order to hunt down the creature and kill it before it can evolve, develop new powers and wipe the entire team out.

Evolve will be launched on October 21 of this year on the PC, the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft.

Another title that managed to get three awards from critics at E3 2014 was No Man's Sky, the new title from Hello Games, which uses a new procedural engine to create a complex galaxy that gamers are able to explore at their own pace, meeting new fauna and discovering unique planets.

The game was compensated with the following titles: Best Original Game, Best Independent Game and the Special Commendation for Innovation.

Hello Games has not said when it plans to launch the experience, but it will be first offered on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, and later launched on the PC.

Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS, from Nintendo, has taken home the award for Best Handheld or Mobile Game, while the best title for the PC was judged by critics to be Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege.

Oculus Rift, the new virtual reality device, is the best new piece of hardware shown at the event, and Batman: Arkham Knight from Rocksteady and Warner Bros. was named Best Action/Adventure Game.

The Best Roleplaying Game shown at E3 2014 was the BioWare-created Dragon Age: Inquisition, and the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. picked up the award for Best Fighting Game.

Racing was represented in the trade show awards by The Crew from Ubisoft, while FIFA 15 and Madden NFL 15 were both defeated in the sports category by NHL 15, another EA Sports simulation.

Best Strategy Game was awarded to Civilization: Beyond Earth, and the Best Social/Casual/Family Game is Mario Maker.
