Turtle Rock Studios has confirmed that its upcoming Evolve cooperative shooter is better designed to support DLC than any game before, as apparently the team used a modular design that allows for easy additions.

Evolve has already impressed millions of fans from around the world with the promise of not only intense cooperative experiences among the team of hunters, but also a great competitive matchup, as the main monster is controlled by another player.

Developer Turtle Rock has already showcased different monsters and different hunters that can be found in the game, and you can bet that more will appear as downloadable content once Evolve is released this fall.

While talking with TotalXbox, Turtle Rock's co-founder Chris Ashton revealed that his team used a modular design to allow for easy implementation of DLC in all sorts of ways, unlike the previous game, Left 4 Dead.

"You know, in Left 4 Dead we could make new environments, but we really didn't have a structure there to make new characters or zombie types, so we were pretty limited on what we could do, DLC-wise," he said.

"But with Evolve... we made these modular pieces - the way the whole game fits together means we can make new maps, new environment types, new wildlife, new monsters and hunters, and all of that stuff just plugs into the game."

Ashton also mentioned that, depending on how the community reacts to all the new add-ons, the studio will keep making even more and try out crazy ideas that it didn't have time to implement before launch. He also claims that Evolve is going to support DLC better than any other game before it.

"We're definitely looking to see how the community reacts... It's designed to have a long life - hopefully that works and we get to try a bunch of crazy things with the community after release. As long as people are into it and the DLC does reasonably well, then we'd like to keep making more," he added.

"At the end of the day, it's a business and it has to make sense, but we believe that we've built a game that does support that really well - more so than any game ever before."

You can expect Evolve to offer some sort of Season Pass for a few DLC packs and receive more details about the add-ons before its debut this fall on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms.
