Turtle Rock has released the recording of a livestream offering more exciting details on its upcoming asymmetrical multiplayer first-person shooter, Evolve.

The video details the Perks system and shows a deadly match, having a team of four brave hunters facing off against a brutal monster, controller by a fifth player.

The game so far seems very interesting, relying on much more than just pointing your gun in the right direction and shooting, and developer Turtle Rock Studios is doing all it can to have it perfectly balanced and fun at launch.

Given the gradually diminishing sales of the Call of Duty franchise, Evolve might just prove to be the jolt that the first-person shooter community needs, providing a fresh gameplay experience, much more engaging than just running and gunning people on small maps.

The video reveals that perks are an important part of the game, and picking the right ones goes alongside getting the right mix of characters when it comes to being the prey or the predator in Evolve.

The game will feature two distinct progression systems, one for each of the characters available for play, and one for the entire account, the player level, so to say.

Tools of the trade

Evolve takes place on distant planets, where teams of hunters chase down and exterminate deadly beasts in order for their employers to be able to exploit valuable resources.

This means that we'll have an array of futuristic gadgets to employ, providing ample opportunities for exciting clashes between the four hunters and the mighty beast.

Players can choose from either support, assault, medic or trapper, with each class having a few different characters, with loadouts and abilities that will impact the match.

The player taking control of the monster can kill smaller creatures on the map and gain experience, then evolve and either learn new abilities or enhance their existing ones.

The maps will also feature various power-ups and objectives, and winning a match will depend a great deal on subterfuge, planning and timing.

The perks system will enable players to permanently enhance certain abilities by performing feats such as dealing a lot of damage through headshots, and the player progression system will award various medals and minor enhancements, generally gained through time spent playing.

The perks will offer effects such as jump height bonuses, higher weapon switching speed, slight damage bonuses, health regeneration, bigger smell range or feeding speed, and many others.

Evolve is set for launch on February 10, 2015, headed to the Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms.
