Evolution RTS, an open source real time strategy developed and published by Frozen Yak Entertainment, will arrive on Steam for Linux soon.

The game was recently released on Steam through the Greenlight program and the community chose this game to go forward and get published.

“It has been in development for over 5 years and receives updates often. Its gameplay is designed specifically to appeal to gamers of all skill levels. The gameplay is designed around the use of unit groups, and the mixture of your unit group often will determine how successful you are in battle, as opposed to churning out hundreds of the same unit continually,” reads the official Steam website.

The game has been out for some time and the developers have released a number of large of updates until now, but they also decided to get their game on Steam as well. The title will be provided for free, which is not something too common on Steam.

The system requirements are also quite acceptable: a 1.6 GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM, Nvidia GTX 450 or better (or ATI/AMD equivalent), and 1 GB of available space.

More details about Evolution RTS can be found on the official Steam website.
