As reported the other day, the GNOME Project is hard at work to release the second milestone of the upcoming GNOME 3.18 desktop environment, and several components have already started appearing on the main FTP servers.

Evolution, the free, cross-platform, and open-source personal information management software that integrates email, calendar, and address book functionality has been updated today, May 25, to version 3.17.2, which will be distributed as part of the GNOME 3.17.2 desktop environment.

According to the attached changelog, Evolution 3.17.2 fixes numerous issues in various areas of the software and updates several translations. The unstable Evolution 3.17.2 update also brings new milestones for its Evolution Data Server, Evolution MAPI, and Evolution EWS components.

Among the most important ones, we can mention the ability to cancel an mbox file, support for paste text in the Composer using the mouse's middle-click button, a new option that allows users to set the default snooze time interval, and support for displaying SVG images in HTML emails.

Several memory leaks of WebKit objects were addressed, the 'Paste Quotation' action was repaired, a possible memory leak was patched as well, and numerous other issues were resolved, so we strongly suggest that you take a look at the changelog below to see what exactly was fixed in Evolution 3.17.2.

The EHTMLEditorView, EHTMLEditorActions, and EHTMLEditorSelection components were updated

Evolution 3.17.2 also brings various improvements to the EHTMLEditorView, EHTMLEditorActions, and EHTMLEditorSelection components, as well as fixes for the EMailRequest, Composer, and ExternalEditor parts. The Czech, Norwegian Bokmal, Polish, Slovenian, Slovak, Icelandic, and Spanish languages were updated as well.

If you want to test this release, you can download Evolution 3.17.2, Evolution Data Server 3.17.2, Evolution EWS 3.17.2, and Evolution MAPI 3.17.2 right now via Softpedia. Keep in mind though that these are development releases that contain unresolved issues. Thus, it is not recommended to install them on production environments.
