Evolution Makes Women More Beautiful, Study Says

If one ever had questions about why the female ideal of beauty changes with time, one needs wonder no more. A recent research has determined that women become more beautiful as a response to evolution, The Telegraph informs. Men, on the other hand, remain the same from an aesthetic point of view.

Researcher Markus Jokela from the University of Helsinki has come to the conclusion that we can literally speak of a “beauty race” after studying data on 1,244 women and 997 men from America, who were kept under observation for four decades of their life.
Data gathered shows that attractive women usually have more children than their less visually appealing counterparts, with most of these being girls as well.

Similarly, good-looking couples are more likely to have girls than boys, with statistics showing that the former also tend to grow up to be equally as beautiful, if not actually more beautiful than their mothers. This way, a pattern is created that ensures that younger women become better looking than their mothers, which would explain, of course, why the female ideal of beauty has been subject to such drastic changes throughout the centuries (compare Nefertiti, Mona Lisa and Angelina Jolie, for instance).

Jokela’s study is not the first to show that beauty is, indeed, passed on from mother to daughter only to become more striking in the latter, The Telegraph notes. A 2006 research conducted at the London School of Economics by Dr. Satoshi Kanazawa also determined that, as the beauty gap between men and women was becoming wider, beautiful mothers usually gave birth to beautiful daughters and had more children than less good-looking women.

“Physical attractiveness is a highly heritable trait, which disproportionately increases the reproductive success of daughters much more than that of sons. If more attractive parents have more daughters and if physical attractiveness is heritable, it logically follows that women over many generations gradually become more physically attractive on average than men.” Dr. Kanazawa said at the time, as quoted by the aforementioned publication.

kindof nonsense regardin nefertiti and mona lisa. women like angelina jolie existed already 2000 years ago, it's only 80 generations ago. humans have mixed alot more across tribes but its false that women were all plainer back then. india is a large trading plain for example, and their statues and paintings all represent the same kinds of girls that are around today, same bodies and large eyes and lips.

1. Life, in regard to physcial hardship, has become much more comfortable than past centuries. Women are softer sex and their look get more affected by physcial harship than men. Easier more comfortable life in the past several decades has played a big role here.
2. Women have access to much more sophisticated beauty products, skin care, cosmetic surgery, and and other look-modifying tools today compared to past. Men rarely use cosmetic products or surgeries.
3. Families used to be much bigger, multiple children which meant multiple pragnancies for women is much less frequent now
4. Nutrition, specially in early childhood, has dramatically improved over the past few centuries which again, from the looks perspective might benefit women more than men, the same way that it has benefited men by making them taller in average.
5. Men, I believe, have become more handsome as well, perhaps as the result of #1 and #4.
6. There is much more cross-cultural mixture and marriage now, creating new generations with exotic and sometimes very beautiful looks.
7. Today's woman expose herself much more than centuries ago, due to relaxation on social restrictions and sensitivities. A woman that is more exposed naturally looks more attractive to men.
7. Not having seen pictures or movies from 2000 or 5000 years ago to compare, I am suspicious about the merits of this study to begin with.

Males r more beautiful or rather, I'll say aTTRACTIVE than females. Females spent most os the time of their life to look beautiful, attractive & males don't even give a * to show-off.They r attractive in their own way.Just look at othr species....A male elephant is more attractive than a female elephant.A male Peacock wth his wings spread, is more attractive than a female peacock.A male lion wth a man is more attractive than a female lion.A male tiger is also more attractive than a female tiger.....The list'll go on & on.

Beauty is a term, which is always associated wth women only. All men r beautiful, no matter what. A man, black in complexion, weighing 80kg wth a height 6'3" is always considered beautiful, But the same does'nt fit wth women.
