Driveclub developer Evolution Studios confirms that it's still tweaking the online modes and servers of its recently released PS4 racing game and, as such, owners should expect to see more outages and problems when they manage to get online.

Driveclub was initially set to appear alongside the PS4 last November, but the title got delayed right before launch so that developer Evolution could continue working on the social mechanics that lay at the roots of the racing experience.

Last week, after a delay of almost one year, the studio launched Driveclub exclusively for the PS4. Immediately after its debut, however, some pretty big problems with the online servers and the multiplayer mechanics appeared.

Evolution has been working hard to fix the issues, but so far they continue to persist, despite patches and attempted fixes.

More server-side updates are rolling out

In order to further remedy the problems, the studio confirms on the official Facebook page that more updates are going to be released for the servers. While this is great news, it also means that players who manage to get online might be disconnected while the patches go live.

"We are working hard to get everyone online as soon as possible. We have just released another server update that has increased the number of players racing which is good news, but in order to keep building on these numbers we will be running further updates in the coming days that will affect availability of some of the online game features," the studio explains.

Multiplayer remains operational

Among the features that might be taken offline for various periods are the challenges and social updates. Things like multiplayer races, leaderboards, or clubs should remain available throughout the update process.

Evolution also emphasizes that plenty of features are still available even for offline players, such as the Tour mode, the custom solo events, or the car customization system.

"We appreciate this isn't ideal but this is really the best way for us to improve server performance and online play for everybody, and we will be switching on these features as further progress is made," the studio adds.

"Thanks for bearing with us and sending us your supportive comments. Believe us, we know how frustrating this is for you and we are working non-stop to find the best solution to get you all connected and racing together online."

As of yet, unfortunately, there are no details about when a concrete solution for Driveclub's online woes is set to appear.
