Typically, we don't tend to cover too much products and devices designed specifically for a single market, but we'll make an exception for the EVOBOOK from Evolio, the first eBook reader that targets specifically the local Romanian market, but that could very well prove to be a fairly OK contender on other markets as well. The device comes equipped with a 6 inch E-ink panel providing an 800 x 600 pixels resolution with 16 gray scale levels, that also features an Epson display controller. Moreover, Evolio's EVOBOOK eBook reader is powered by an Arm9 Core 400Hz CPU, accompanied by 64MB of SDRAM memory and 2GB of internal flash memory, while relying on the Linux2.6 as an operating system and being powered by a Li-ION 1700mAh battery. The eReader supports plenty of file formats, including PDF, TXT, CHM, FB2, RTF, TCR, PDB, HTM, PRC, HTML, EPUB, DJVU, IW44, IW4, TTK, JPG, BMP, PNG, TIF, GIF, MP3, JPG, BMP, PNG, TIFF, as well as various typesets, including italic, boldface, font, margin, line spacing, hyphenation. The number of reading-related functions is also impressive, including bookmark, content, go to page, search, zoom, horizontal/vertical reading, auto decoding, while the device also delivers a strong word search function (key word, book name, author name) and MP3 playback on the side. Additionally, the reader from Evolio provides certain file management features, such as copy, paste, move, delete, create new folder, and also supports multiple languages (including Romanian, with all its specific characters, which makes it more suitable for the local market). Similar to other devices of this type available out there, the EVOBOOK packs a 3.5mm stereo audio jack for earphones, an USB port and a SD card slot, used for accessing content stored on this particular storage media (as long as their capability is not above 8GB). Pricing for the Evolio EVOBOOK has been set at 150 Euro, which actually makes it extremely affordable for a wide category of consumers, especially those have have been hit harder by the economic crisis.
